BOURNE'S ENERGY SUPPORTS BREAST CANCER FIGHT ON WHEELS
New Delivery Truck Promotes Awareness and Provides Funding
Morrisville, VT - Bourne's Energy of Morrisville has launched a new fund raising and community awareness program that is hard to miss. On Tuesday, June 17 at 2 pm, Bourne's unveiled the company's new pink American Breast Cancer Foundation propane delivery truck at a dedication ceremony.
For a minimum of two years, Bourne's will donate one cent for every gallon of propane it sells from the pink truck to the American Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF), a non-profit organization that provides direct financial support to uninsured and underinsured women and men who need breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment. In addition, for every gallon they sell from the pink truck, Bourne's will contribute one-half cent to a cancer-related organization in the communities it serves. "We're pleased to have Bourne's join the campaign for breast cancer awareness by putting a pink tanker on the roads of Vermont," said Phyllis Wolf, president of the American Breast Cancer Foundation. "The Key To Life Program provides direct financial support for breast cancer diagnostic tests such as mammograms to nearly 10,000 uninsured and underinsured Americans each year."
According to Peter Bourne, co-owner of Bourne's Energy, the truck is a new twist on a longstanding theme. "We're very proud of our local heritage of supporting our neighbors in central Vermont. The new Pink Awareness truck is a way for us to both support breast cancer efforts financially and by raising awareness for breast cancer screening and research." As area residents see the truck, Peter Bourne hopes that they'll be inspired to take steps to fight cancer, too. "We know that screening helps save lives, and research is the key to finding new treatments and hopefully, a cure for breast cancer."
Michael Bourne, co-owner of Bourne's Energy, and his wife, Liddy, shared their experiences fighting Liddy's breast cancer. Liddy and Sharon Desrochers, another Bourne's employee, helped christen the new ABCF truck. As Michael explains, "when someone in your family goes through breast cancer, it really is a team effort. We've seen how important it is for friends and neighbors to help one another when you're facing diagnosis and treatment. That's the reason we want to help others through the ABCF and community cancer organizations."
The campaign also kicks off the launch of Bourne's new name and logo. Bourne's Energy serves communities in central and northern Vermont with bioheat, propane, plumbing, and a/c. Bourne's provides 24-hour service to its customers. Bourne's is also committed to supporting the people and businesses of Vermont through a variety of charitable and community action initiatives.
